Colombo weather news ahead of Pakistan-Namibia T20 World Cup Match

COLOMBO: Uncertain weather conditions could play a decisive role when Pakistan take on Namibia in a must-win clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on Wednesday.

According to the weather forecast, it will be cloudy all day, with a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain, which could lead to game interruptions.

Currently, there are thunderstorms in the region, with temperatures around 29°C, but the high humidity makes it feel more like 30°C.

A strong north wind is blowing at 19 km/h with gusts up to 37 km/h.

The humidity remains extremely high at 74 percent, accompanied by 100 percent cloud cover, which has reduced visibility to just 1.6 kilometers.

Rainfall has already reached 5.9 mm, while the low cloud ceiling of 600 meters continues to create gloomy, stormy conditions.

The weather is expected to improve slightly in the late afternoon. Around 4 p.m., the sky is expected to remain cloudy but more stable, with temperatures around 29°C and a wind chill of 31°C.

Wind speeds will remain similar, although gusts could increase to 43 km/h. Humidity is expected to drop slightly to 69 percent, visibility could improve to around 8 kilometers, and the cloud base is expected to rise to 3,100 meters.

Pakistan enters the match under pressure after a disappointing loss to India at the start of the tournament. The 2009 champions currently sit in third place in Group A with two wins and one loss, and have a net run rate of -0.403.

A victory against Namibia would earn Pakistan six points and secure their place in the Super Eight round by finishing second in the group.
