Shoaib Akhtar Clarifies his Remarks on Mohsin Naqvi after misrepresentation
Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said he has made it clear to the Indian media that he will not tolerate any negative comments about Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Speaking on ARY News’ Khabar program, Shoaib Akhtar claimed that the Indian media had misrepresented his statements. He clarified that his criticism was not directed at Mohsin Naqvi, but rather at those who run international cricket.
He said he has supported Mohsin Naqvi for the past two or three years, describing him as a good person who genuinely wants to work. However, Shoaib Akhtar added that Mohsin Naqvi is not receiving sound advice. “If he were given the right guidance, he could do a lot for Pakistan cricket,” he said.
Akhtar noted that Mohsin Naqvi lacks in-depth knowledge of cricket and is actively seeking sound advice, which he believes is currently lacking.
The former fast bowler also admitted that the Pakistan team has failed to achieve consistent results over the past five to ten years. He said Shaheen Shah Afridi isn’t in top form, while T20 cricket isn’t ideal for Babar Azam. He added that unless Babar plays as an opening batsman, he’s ineffective at the bottom of the batting order.
Akhtar also said Shadab Khan is a redundant choice in the team, declaring that he doesn’t understand the reason for his inclusion. “We’ve created the wrong kind of stars,” he observed.
He argued that India is playing cricket 50 years ahead of its time, while Pakistan is stuck in the past.
