PSL: Multan Sultans no more

As we mentioned in an earlier article, The Pakistan Super League franchise known as Multan Sultans was officially sold as Walee Technologies has officially secured the rights.

In a high intensity auction held on 9th February, the tech giant placed a winning bid of Rs. 245 Crore, the highest ever bid in the history of the PSL.

The new owners have decided to pivot away from South Punjab. Instead of continuing with the Multan identity, Walee Technologies will be launching a brand-new franchise representing the city of Rawalpindi.

The PCB ensured the process remained transparent and strictly professional. All bids were quoted in PKR, with a mandatory minimum increment of Rs. 1 crore over the previous offer. While there was no ceiling on the valuation, the structured bidding ensured a steady climb to the final record-breaking figure.

To navigate the high-pressure environment, each bidding party was allowed a single five-minute strategic timeout for internal huddles. However, the rules were crystal clear: no communication with rival bidders was permitted during the process.

The session concluded when Walee Technologies’ massive Rs. 245 Crore offer remained unchallenged. Following the final call, they were provisionally declared the winners. With the “Pindi Boys” finally getting a dedicated home team, the PSL landscape is officially entering a new era, leaving the Multan Sultans as a chapter in the history books.
